So as always (and with all these wonderful days we celebrate throughout the year) Mother's day is coming up and I'm always at odds with myself about what to get a woman who has all the material things she could possibly need or want! And so I started to give my mother things that were more experiential rather than material. I tried to make it a different kind of Mother's day and make it personal, I forgo the cliché gifts of jewelry and kitchen appliances! So why dont you do the same and give her a gift that indulges her and if possible made just for her. Here are some of the ideas that I think make it a bit different and is for a woman who has it all:
1- A massage or spa treatment
2- A ticket to a concert or theater event
3- Take her out on a walk just you and her, spending quality time together. Good walks in the city include; Jabal Amman neighbouhood, Jabal AL Weibdeh, Sports City track, King Hussein Gardens. Or go to Ajloun for a nice walk in the reserve in the clean mountain air
4- Make something together – cermaics, a floaral arrangement, design something
5- Get her a dance class, a cermaics class, a yoga class... any class that gives her a new experience she will enjoy
6- Introduce her to a new author, musician, actor who was an influence on you
7- Cook her a meal – and I dont mean baking a cake, but an all out meal
8- Take her to the dead sea and take a chair with you, go to the public beach and let her just sit at the water's edge
9- Buy her something local such as a beautiful gift from Wild Jordan or Jordan River Foundation
10- Write her a card and tell her why you love her and how she has influenced your life
